Miniatures

He is the author of a grandiose, as yet un-exhibited unique art project, TEMPLE OF MINIATURES, which consists 2160 masterful oil miniatures produced in new, and as yet unknown, painting techniques on a special type of parchment. The miniatures are consolidated into 40 solid poliptics measuring 122x133 cm, each containing 48 miniatures, as well as 10 poliptics measuring 130x80, each containing 24 miniatures. The theme of these works is Sincere Gifts; the gift of stone, the gift of fire, the gift of space, the gift of the passing, etc…

TEMPLE OF MINIATURES is a visual and philosophically themed entity. The viewer is impressed by the chromatic nature of the colors, the perfection and precision of craft as well as the wide thematic body of the project. This is a new spectral world, as yet unseen in art. To merely scratch the surface of TEMPLE OF MINIATURES requires hours of visual contemplation. The artist has also authored many other miniatures, both individual works and those united into visual compositions.

Oil on glass

Mile Prpa is the creator of roughly 500 unique works, original oil on glass compositions of varying dimensions from the small to those of large proportions. These are also executed in the artist’s special and individual painting techniques. A powerful spectrum and sharp edged colors leave one fascinated. It is with disbelief at the perfect precision and spectral unity that the viewer looks at these yet to be revealed paintings! –“as if they were not crafted by human hands” - yet un-exhibited

From this large visual opus, brought into being in complete solitude during the past 30 years, we bring you a few paintings made in the artist’s individual techniques – oil on glass.

“Mile Prpa’s opus of creations finds itself in a completely individual position within the world of painting… This opus’s magical world of colors fascinates with its all -encompassing harmonic variations determined by a perfect unity of tonal scales. One is impressed by the simplicity of this compositions unique harmony of colors, and the spaces domination of homogenous tones which permeate the body of work.”

“Thus far, his creations are neither slave to nor an underestimation of known doctrines and artistic conventions… Painting is a thing of the spirit – said Leonardo De Vinci. The artist Prpa has shown us that painting can simultaneously be poetry”
